About Amaterasu

The most important deity in Shinto. Born from the left eye of Izanagi. Grandmother of Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor of Japan. Once hid in a cave, plunging the world into darkness. Was lured out by a mirror reflecting her beauty. The Japanese imperial family claims descent from her.
